TBS Petrol is the joint holder of Ozpinar License (Lic. No. AR/AME-TBS-SNR/5124) located in the NE of Siirt City and southeast of Sirvan town. Necessary infrastructure for logistical support is present. The License covers an area of 49.938 Hectares (approx. 499 km2). TBS Petrol (42,5%) is partners with Aladdin Middle East Ltd. (42,5%) and Sonar Petrol Arama ve Üretim San. Tic. Ltd. (15%) in Ozpinar License. Many structural closures were observed in front of the Miocene thrust. Otochthonus units outcrops around these structures. Ozpinar-1 well (TD:4709m) was drilled in the licence area penetrated the outcroping allochthonous units and underlying autochthonous section. Regional stratigraphy from Bedinan Fm (Ordovician) to Lahti Fm (Pliocene) is well –known from wells which were drilled in and around the licence area. Recent exploration activities carried out on the western part of the licence area with same geological properties resulted with an economic petroleum discovery (Köseler-1). All geological studies carried out up to now show no negative information about source rocks, resorvoir rocks and cap rocks. Source rock studies determined that: - Cretaceous aged Derdere Fm (Mardin Group),
- Triassic-Jurassic aged Cudi Group and
- Paleozoic units are capable of enough petroleum generation.
Also, younger sediments are capable of hydrocarbon generation because of alloctonous cap related to Miocene thrusting. On the licence area, Paleocene aged and older sediments have economic hydrocarbon potential. The position of the surface structures will be re-evalueted according to new G&G studies. Structural leads will be defined for autochthonous units under allochthonous cover of Miocene thrust. Target horizons expected to be tested are; - Garzan Fm (Cretaceous) (~1250m.)
- Mardin Carbonates (Cretaceous) (~ 1700m)
- Cudi Carbonates (Jurassic-Triassic) (~2050m)
- Paleozoic units (~3800m).
