Can S. Bakiler comes from an extensive background in petroleum production and reservoir engineering. His experience covers the areas of field development and reservoir management, characterization, modeling and exploitation of oil and gas reservoirs, heavy oil production and EOR applications.

He began his career in the oil and gas industry in 1981 with TPAO as a reservoir engineer responsible for supervision of reservoir engineering studies for the primary and secondary recoveries of oil reservoirs. Appointed as Reservoir Engineering Manager in 1995, he worked for improvement of CO2 injection application in naturally fractured Bati Raman Field and played a key role in achieving notable success in heavy oil production in Turkey. Later, while holding important management roles including Deputy Production Group Manager and Vice President for Production, Drilling and Workover Operations in TPAO, he stood out as a leading figure in the oilfield operations of TPAO between 1997 and 2003. Prior to joining Schlumberger, Can Bakiler served as Project Manager in Calik Energy where he expanded his background and depth of understanding with development drilling in high pressure gas fields in Turkmenistan. In 2005, he moved to Tehran, Iran as Subsurface Team Leader of Schlumberger DCS where he worked on field development planning (FDP) and development drilling of an offshore field in Iran and thereafter assigned to Kuwait as Project Manager of the subsurface study and preparation of conceptual field development plan for a naturally fractured carbonate reservoir. In 2009, appointed as Senior Reservoir Engineer to the Field Development and Execution Center of Schlumberger in Abu Dhabi, UAE, he conducted due diligence studies and sniff tests for various oil and gas fields in Middle East and Asia. He continued his career in SLB Qatar, with a major focus on well test validation and reservoir engineering support for the back allocation study of a major oil field in Qatar. He joined TBS Consultancy Group in 2010 as Reservoir and Production Engineering Consultant. He is doing part time teaching in the Middle East Technical University, Ankara since 2010, instructing courses on petroleum production engineering and reservoir management. He is also a certified instructor for NExT since 2010, teaching courses on reservoir engineering and integrated reservoir management in various countries.

Can Bakiler received his B.Sc. degree in Chemical Engineering from Middle East Technical University and M.Sc. degree in Petroleum Engineering from the University of Texas at Austin. He has authored or co-authored numerous technical papers.
